Brawl Funnies [Dick 1] Brawl Funnies [Dick 1]

Rated 0 / 5 stars May 24, 2009

Failure

I don't know if this flash was born of idiocy, an attempt at "parody", or desperate jealousy of the successes of Rina-chan and Kirbopher, but whatever the reason, and whatever it tried to achieve, it failed. It felt like an insult to every sense I have.

I almost feel sorry for rtil, since his good animation was buried in a deluge of lack of effort, lack of "funnies", and an insulting amount of time-wasting. A small percentage of the art showed that there was actually some talent involved here, and it's a shame to see it wasted on dross like this.

A Message From Your Comp. A Message From Your Comp.

Ouch, my bleeding ears >.<

Ugh. You know something is very wrong with the world of Flash when a submission creator's logo is better than the actual submission.

I'm not sure whether this really was meant to be a joke, or a way for you to send out an offensive message while hiding behind the facade of it being "from the computer", but if it was the former you missed the mark. This joke might have worked with sound that was... well, at the very least turn it down, that was ear-splitting, certainly to the point of spoiling any possible humour. And it could really have benefitted from some more effort graphically, say a monitor or a more believable computer font.
Of course, all of this critism is in the futile hope that this really was just meant for amusement.

Grumio responds:

Are you people honestly this retarded?

Jesus Christ, maybe I should have named this flash "Shit in my Dickhole", and then your common sense would kick in.

And you know it's bad when a non author preaches to an actual autho- OH WAIT, ALL THE TIME.

Nicely done

The animation was nice and fluid, though I was a little less taken by the artstyle (that's more down to personal taste though, there was clear quality here). The progression from character to character flowed well too.
The only thing I wasn't impressed by was the final character... maybe a little anticlimatic compared to some of the rest of the characters' efforts.

Oh and btw, I don't think dropping Ness in there was that much of a spoiler - he's in the real Smash Bros Brawl opening video, and it's not like he's a new character, so no tears over that.

Pac-man Eat'em Up Pac-man Eat'em Up

Iffy collision detection, but not bad

Not a bad game, but the collision detection seemed a little off to me. At times it seemed that I got a game over when I hadn't quite made contact, or should have gotten away with a close-call. Aside from this though, nicely done. The graphics were perhaps a little basic, but in keeping with the pacman theme, so that's not necessarily a bad point.

Frustrating

I found this to be quite a frustrating game, that really punishes the player for not being able to see beyond the short distance shown on-screen. Unknowns in themself are not a bad thing in a game, but at least early on in the game I feel you need to give the player a break or two - say, overjumping results in you pushed back to where you started, rather than insta-death every single time. The learning curve of this game is vicious to say the least. Perhaps some form of vague mini-map, or at least a better view of the upcoming course at the beginning of each level would help this.
Graphically the game is very cute, and suits the game very well, and the sound fits well too.
It's definitely got potential, but it's been spoiled by... well, to be honest, a feeling that the game hates the player.

Sonic Millionare Sonic Millionare

Rated 2.5 / 5 stars July 5, 2006

More than I hoped, and less...

First off, I want to be positive. The overall feel and look of this was good. The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire effect was well captured. It's not often that a quiz game genuinely feels like some effort went into the presentation.

(note: some answer spoilers ahead)

Unfortunately, you've fallen foul of the same issue that every creator of a Sonic quiz (and probably countless other subjects of flash quiz) fall to - you MUST check your facts. I'm an avid Sonic fan, and it is painfully apparent when things are wrong.
These include some tiny, pedantic points; the first question I saw asked what colour Sonic's fur is - Sonic has SPINES, not fur...
These then inevitably progress to genuine errors (one question asks how many characters you can play as in Sonic Adventure 2, which you answer as 12 - now, clearly you've counted some multiplayer characters, since you can't reach that answer any other way... but you haven't covered all of them. To my knowledge and memory at the moment, taking account of multiplayer modes, there are at least 13 Sonic, Shadow, Amy, Metal Sonic, Knuckles, Rouge, Chaos, Tikal, Eggman, Tails, a neutral chao, a dark chao, and an eggrobo. There may be a couple more...
And then there's the ambiguity that always results from these quizzes - one question asks which game did not include Metal Sonic, to which the answer was Sonic 2 - some trains of thought dictate that 'Silver Sonic', the robotic version of sonic from this game, was an early model of Metal Sonic - some form of prototype. You don't make it clear whether you mean Metal Sonic as in the overall possible scope of robot Sonics, or the famous form that Metal Sonic has become known for.

These may seem nit picking, or lame, or whatever - but when these errors continue to build up through a quiz, something is seriously wrong. And it always is with these quiz types.
